During the fall season there is so much to do in the southern Utah and Hurricane, UT area near WillowWind RV Park. If you’re traveling to the area this November, you can plan to join in on some fun or festive activities to make your trip even more memorable. At WillowWind, we regularly schedule events with our guests, but the neighboring towns like St. George have some wonderful attractions you can be a part of or go to see. Here are some upcoming events to consider this November:
25 Hours in Frog Hollow
November 3-4 - Hurricane, UT

For the outdoors-people, you might be heading to southern Utah to take part in an extraordinary annual mountain biking race just outside of Hurricane, UT. 25 Hours in Frog Hollow is outside Zion National Park near Gooseberry Mesa. This ride is either a team relay or a single rider race, which begins at 10:00AM on Saturday, ending at 10:00AM on Sunday morning, with Daylight Savings Time adding an extra hour to the time due to the fall back time change. The clocks actually fall back for the riders when they begin at 10:00AM on Saturday as they switch over to “frog time.” The total length of the ride is 13 miles with ranging elevations and both single and double tracks.
4th Weekends at Silver Reef Ghost Town
November 24: 3:00AM - 10:00AM - St. George
This attraction in St. George allows you to experience what an old western town was like in the late 1800s when it was occupied. They call it “Living History,” where you can witness some of the fashions and clothing people wore with period costuming for all the guides on your tour. You can watch gang shootouts on the roads along with lectures which encourage you to learn more about the history and value in the surrounding area.
In addition to the historical draw, those who enjoy browsing art and seeing artists work might like to take part in 4th weekends, as local and renown artists will come to showcase their work at this event.
St. George Dickens Christmas Festival

Another experience which provides immersive entertainment much like the ghost town is the Dickens Christmas Festival in St. George. 19th Century London is recreated in a unique way through a shopping experience that makes you feel like you are in old fashioned shops from Dickens’ time. Many characters from Dickens’ most famous works will be entertaining the crowds, like the orphans from Oliver Twist to the Scrooge from A Christmas Carol. As a craft festival as well, you’ll be able to browse a number of wares from all types of vendors from Christmas decorations or gifts to fine art, candles, or handmade musical instruments.
St. George Musical Theater

The St. George Musical Theater has put on a number of great productions in recent years - after a tumultuous transition period, they took over their old performance venue at the historic Opera House in St. George after the City Council supported the shift. They create memorable performances and works that are fun for the family and surrounding community to enjoy. Check out a few of their upcoming shows during the holiday season.

Most people are familiar with the story of the Beauty and the Beast from the disney portrayals which involve spectacular musical acts that the whole family can enjoy. During the holiday season, it is the perfect show to catch while spending time in southern Utah or Hurricane. It is a great alternative to the typical Christmas show you might have been used to in the past.

If you’re looking for a more traditionally Dickens during the Christmas season, make your way to Brigham’s Playhouse in Washington, UT for a performance of A Christmas Carol to get you in the giving spirit. You can see the play Wednesday through Saturday evenings (one show per night) with a matinee show on Saturday afternoons. It is a perfect getaway for a holiday show during your stay with us at WillowWind RV Park. Just a quick 20 minute drive west of our park, you can make your way over for the evening show and enjoy a quick trip back at the end of the night.
